Målestokk
Speil med foto trykt på baksida (1 x 0.6m), trykksak
Temporær installasjon

Utifrå ordet målestokk fulgte Nygård med på ein lang trestokk i eit skogholt ved Østensjøvannet i to månadar sommaren - 24, og lagde ein liten trykksak og ein installasjon med eit speil med foto. Fotoet, som ble trykket på baksida av speilet, er frå speilet støtta inntil trestokken. Gjennom trykket og speilfolien skraverte Nygård vekk sollyset i fotoet, det lyste gjennom trea rundt og teikna eit mønster på trestokken.
Speilet reflekterer stokken oppover mot dei levande trea, i speilet og i fotoet, og verket finn stad i samspel mellom liv og død, mellom det som lever og gror og det som løyser seg opp og blir til næring for andre levande vesen.

I installasjonen vender speilet opp mot publikum og mot trea, mens fotoet bakpå forlenger trestokken.
Publikum fekk med seg en trykksak med foto frå tida med stokken og speilet og ein poetisk tekst om kva vi leser og måler i eit poetisk måte med naturen. Teksten av inspirert av eldre kristen mystikk.

Temporary installation

With the word 'målestokk' (measuring stick) as a starting point, Nygård followed a long wooden stick in a forest grove at Østensjøvannet for two months during the summer of 2024, and made a printed manual and an installation with a mirror and a photo. The photo, which was printed on the back side of the mirror, is of the mirror standing against the wooden stick. Through the print and mirrror foil, Nygård scraped away the sun light in the photo, the light fell through the surrounding trees and created a light pattern on the wooden stick.
The mirror reflects the stick onto the living trees, in the mirror and in the photo, and the work takes place in the interaction between life and death, between that which lives and grows and that which dissolves and becomes nourishment for other living beings.

The mirror in the installation is tilted towards the public and the trees, while the photo on the back prolongs the wooden stick.
The public got the printed manual with images from the time spend with the stick and the mirror and a poetic text about what we read and measure in a poetic relationship with nature. The text is inspired by older Christian mysticism.
